From last month...

Wildcats of the Month:

Butterfly Release:

Mrs. Almonte and many other K classes learned about the life-cycle of a butterfly which culminated with an actual butterfly being born and released into the wild. The kids were so excited!

Mask and Covid Update:

Big picture
With new Covid guidance coming out of the governor's office recently, I thought it'd be good to update WSS families on what this guidance means for our school and your students.

  • Governor Baker and the Department of Education outlined that while many restrictions were lifted last weekend for the state, schools still have to follow many of the existing Covid safety protocols such as wearing masks indoors for the remainder of the year. Here is the Department of Education web-site link. As our students are still not vaccinated, please continue to keep your child home if they exhibit symptoms and call our school nurse with any questions.
  • Students can now remove their masks when playing outdoors. It's been great seeing so many students playing and smiling outdoors again!
  • We were pleased to hear the governor and department of education announce plans to lift all Covid restrictions for schools next fall. While I know all guidance is subject to change, we are hopeful and will plan for a normal start to next school year.

As always, feel free to reach out to the school with questions.

Returning Chromebooks:

Big picture
Beginning next week, we will be keeping chromebooks in the classroom for the remainder of the year. The one exception will be our remote students who will not be expected to return chromebooks until school work is finished for the year. Our hope is to have all of the chromebooks returned and in our school by June 11th.

1st Grade Promotion Parade

Big picture
June 17th - while we have traditionally not had a 1st grade graduation, we thought that given the challenges of this year, it would be fun to have them take a final walk around the school with their peers and family cheering them on. The students will start walking at 12:45 and finish on the black top in-between the superintendent's office and our school (where parent pick-up/drop off-takes place). Families hoping to see their kids finish the walk around the building can park on Waterford Street and watch from the grass on Wilder Field (the field behind the superintendent's office/playground).
