Transition Seminar- weekly update
Here is what we did this week in transition seminar
Welcome parents to semester 2- I will be providing you with our weekly newsletter of what we did and what we talked about in our class
The goal of the newsletter is to spark conversation at home. The class focuses on skills students need after high school to be employable/become successful adults. Please talk with your son/daughter about what we are learning so students can see the value in these skills
Soft skills/employability skills
We start the semester talking about the importance of soft skills for being a successful adult and being able to have a job. We will focus on these all semester- here are the main ones we discuss:
-being able to communicate
-being on time
-able to work on a team
-being dependable and honest
-being able to solve problems
-able to be flexible and " go with the flow" when something changes
-not being afraid of technology
-willing to try new things/self-confidence
There are many more but these are the skills that employers are looking for.
first in school field trip- the Auto Shop!
This week we got the opportunity to visit the auto shop here at Wachusett. We learned how to open the hood, check oil, check fluids, add fluids, and check tire pressure. Thank you to Mr. Baer- what a wonderful learning experience. Please ask your son/daughter about what they learned.
