The Compass Rose: 11/4
Principal's Message
To the East Elementary School community:
I was so incredibly proud of all of those who presented their hobbies and passions at Hobby Night. Not only were their displays and products thoughtfully prepared, but their ability to engage adults and their peers while talking about activities they love was impressive. I'm hoping that they all felt their own sense of pride, it was a great night!
Parents in grade 3-5 will be receiving Mid-Term check-ins in backpacks today. Please reach out to classroom staff if you have concerns- our goal with these check-ins, and our upcoming conferences, is to provide updates regarding your student's progress and how we seek to help/support their academic growth. Our expectation is that your student's performance/areas for growth should be clear to you long before seeing it on the report card.
- Mr. Hawes
All-School Meeting
It is apparent to us that we missed an opportunity to provide clarity around the format for All-School Meetings this year and how that may conflict with past practices. In years past, there was an open invitation for parents to attend All-School Meeting, however, that will not be the case for all such meetings. We seek to utilize All-School Meetings to make connections with our school community, touch base on progress relative to citizenship and school-wide expectations, and celebrate the work being done by our students. It has also been a few years since our students have participated in an All-School Meeting (if at all) and we are not all yet meeting the expectations of such meetings.
We hope to soon invite parents when individual students or grade levels are highlighted so you can share that experience. When such opportunities arise, we'll do so with ample notice so that all who are able to attend can do so.
Aspen & Email
We have recently been made aware of issues regarding notifications & emails sent from Aspen to accounts hosted by Yahoo and Hotmail. Aspen is currently working out the issue, but it has impacted some that had regularly received communications from school. We will host this newsletter on our Facebook page as well as our website (found in the Resources section of our East Elementary website), in case parents are having issues with access.
Grade 5 Winter Concert
This year's Winter Concert will be held on Tuesday December 13th. We will follow up with more details soon, we are excited that our students will have an opportunity to play in front of the school and parents!
