Creating an Icon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Desktop shortcuts!
Often, computer users just need faster access to a site, service or program than the default method. Usually, a desktop or taskbar shortcut is created for this purpose. At Hudson, our technology department has often obliged handling this process but it's so simple that anyone can do it!
Navigate It's pretty much ALWAYS simplest to first go to the target that you want your icon to point to. (Here, I am using Remind 101 log-in website) | Chrome Browser In Chrome, you can simply click on the icon to the left of the address (the lock as seen in the previous image) and drag that to the desktop! You'll see a "greyed out" version of an icon (as pictured) Usually, you'll want to rename that shortcut, at that point, which is done by right-clicking the icon and finding "Rename". | Microsoft Edge With Edge, it'll be simplest to utilize copy any paste. Copy your address (highlight and right-click or highlight and use Ctrl+C). Right-click on the desktop and Find "New" then "Shortcut". Paste your address in where it asks for location. Hit "Next". Enter your name and click "Finish"! |
