Green Wave Hockey Hosts State Playoff Game on 3/4

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Ice Hockey Team for a GREAT season so far! NMHS Hockey qualified for States, and is hosting their first playoff game at Canterbury on Monday night, 3/4 at 7:30 pm against BBD (Brookfield, Bethel & Danbury). Come see the game & show your Green Wave Pride!

Kristen's Kloset Prom Shop Coming to Southington High School on 3/2

A prom shop featuring over 600 new and gently used up-to-date gowns is coming to Southington High School's Freshman Cafe on Saturday, March 2, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Only a small donation is required for each gown. However, if paying a donation presents a financial hardship, please see Mrs. Lambiase in Guidance for a voucher. Or, bring a gown to donate and receive a voucher for a free gown. A school ID is required for entry. For more information, click here.

Naugatuck Valley Community College Field Trip 3/20

Cybersecurity, Art, Engineering, Biological Sciences, Digital Arts - these are just a handful of the dozens of degree programs offered at Naugatuck Valley Community College. Seniors and juniors can join Mrs White on a field trip to tour the Danbury and Waterbury campuses of Naugatuck Valley Community College on Wednesday, 3/20. Learn about the amazing educational opportunities right here, close to New Milford, where a savvy high school graduate could save a ton of money on college tuition. Sign up in the Career Center. First priority will be given to seniors. Permission slips due by Monday, 3/4.

JUNIORS: College Planning Night is 3/27

Juniors and parents, join the School Counseling Department for College Planning Night on 3/27, from 7:00 - 8:30 pm in the NMHS Lecture Hall. Admissions reps from Western Connecticut State University, the University of New Haven and Post University will discuss the college application process and answer questions.

Field Trip to Lincoln Tech on 4/2

Not planning on going to college? Ready to get out into the workforce and start making bank? If you're a senior or junior interested in a career in any of the fields listed below, join Mr. Wilson on a campus visit to Lincoln Tech on 4/2, where you'll learn about the skills you'll need to become a professional in one of these careers. JUNIORS: "No Place for Hate" Program 4/2

The "No Place for Hate" seminar for juniors, presented in conjunction with the Anti-Defamation League, will take place in school on the morning of 4/2. "No Place for Hate" teaches participants (students and faculty) the role they need to take in combating bias and bullying as a means to stop the escalation. For more information about the program, visit the ADL website.

Post University Field Trip 4/4

On Thursday, 4/4 join Mrs. Lambiase on a field trip to visit the Post University campus in Waterbury. Tour the academic buildings, dormitories, athletic facilities and more. The cost is $5 per student to attend, and includes lunch in the Post University Dining Hall. Space is limited, and seniors will be given first priority. Permission slips and money due by Thursday, 3/21.

SAT Day is Coming - April 9!

In the coming weeks, stay tuned for an email from Principal Shugrue with detailed information about School SAT Day coming on April 9. Procedures, test security, and many other topics will be covered.

College & Post-Secondary Options Fair 4/10

Students, now that you'll have taken the SATs on 4/9, come to the College & Post Secondary Options Fair, right here at NMHS on Wednesday, April 10. Over 80 colleges, universities, armed force branches, and technical/trade schools will be in attendance. The Fair will take place in the Arena from from 6:30-8:00 PM. Families are welcome!

Post University & Naugatuck Valley Comm. College Instant Decision Day 4/12

Post University and Naugatuck Valley Community College will be at on-site at NMHS for an Instant Decision Day on Friday, 4/12, with appointments available from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

See your Guidance Counselor or Mrs. Shaffer in the College & Career Center for more information. Participation requires pre-registration before 4/10.

Construction Career Days Field Trip May 1st

Join Mr. Wilson and Mr. Nathan on Wednesday, 5/1 on a field trip to the Construction Pro Rodeo sponsored by Associated Builders & Contractors of Connecticut. The hands-on student expo introduces students to a multitude of post-high school career options in the construction trades. Students will have an opportunity to speak with industry professionals, see demonstrations, attend safety seminars, participate in hands-on activities, and more. The cost of the field trip is $10.00, and requires a permission slip as well as a Parent Waiver/Consent Form, all due by 4/10. Space is limited. Seniors will be given first priority.

French Honor Society Creates 'Valentines for Veterans'

The French Honor Society sponsored "Valentines for Vets" on Friday 2/8, inviting members of Spanish Honor Society and National Honor Society to join them in writing and decorating Valentine's Day cards to show appreciation for members of the armed forces. FHS members delivered them to the local VFW after school on 2/14.
