National School Counseling Week!
National School Counseling Week was Feb. 1 - 5. This week highlights the impact that school counselors have in fostering every student’s academic and career plan and the difference counseling programs make in a student’s social and emotional development. Thank you to our counseling team for all that you do!
For Freshmen Only - Career Exploration Pathway Selection!
It is already that time of year to be getting ready for Course Selection for your 10th grade year.
The first step for Freshman is to select a Career Exploration Pathway. This pathway will help you choose a Career Academy to be part of in Grades 10 - 12 as well as help you select courses each year that align with your interests.
Directions:
1) Watch this brief video.
2) Read the direction on the 2nd slide of this presentation.
3) You ONLY need to look at the slides in that presentation that interest you. Please watch the video on how to avoid having to read all of the slides.

4) Fill out the survey on the Directions Slide to select your Primary and Secondary Career Exploration Pathway choices.
5) Due: Tuesday February 9th by Midnight.

Now is the Time to Sign Up for the Fall Semester
Early College Credit Program (ECCP) and Start College Now (SCN) are opportunities for students to take college courses while still in high school as approved by the School District of Beloit. All approved courses are paid for by the district (providing the student passes the course) or by the student if he or she fails the course. Students will earn high school and college credits by taking an ECCP or SCN approved course.
Students should review each college course catalog online to determine if he or she can take a selected course (prerequisites considered). Students will not be approved for courses comparable to those currently taught at BMHS.
The deadline to apply for a fall course is MARCH 1st through the Early College Credit Program (ECCP) at a UW School and/or a Wisconsin Private College as well as Start College Now (SCN) at a Wisconsin Technical College. There are no exceptions to the deadline date.

All applications must be completed and emailed to Mrs. Angela Snow in the School Counseling Office by the March 1st deadline.

Black History Month
Black History Month provides the necessary opportunity to dig deeper into American History and support students as they learn more about African American history contributions and achievements, discover cultural impacts, and follow movements through to the present day.
This month student’s Academic / Flipped Lab lessons will have a focus on celebrating Black History Month through activities that teach the importance of Black history and culture.

Influential African American female athletes
African American culture and its impact on music
The impact African American inventors have had on our daily lives

The significance of Black History Month and it's direct impact on the Beloit community.
ACT Testing is just around the corner!
All 11th grade students will be taking the ACT at Beloit Memorial High School on March 9, 2021. Students will be emailed a specific reporting time and location 2 weeks prior to testing. Time slots range from 7:00-8:00 AM. 11th graders are encouraged to leave their backpacks and devices home during testing. All devices and personal belongings that are brought to school will be stored in a secure location during testing. Students must bring a picture ID or a copy of their completed health screener on the day of testing in order to be admitted and students must wear a mask for the entire testing period. Students will be released as they finish the test, typically around 1:00 PM.
During Testing on March 9th, BMHS will be closed to the public. There will be no virtual classes for 9th, 10th, and 12th grade students.
Wisconsin Education Fair
Attending a Virtual Wisconsin Education Fair is a great step in the process to planning for your future. Each fair will host up to 150 colleges, universities, specialty schools and military branches.
Whether you are a student, parent or high school counselor, at a fair, you will have the opportunity to talk directly to a representative. Consider this a one-stop-shop to live chat, explore campus videos, set up individual campus tours, and attend an interactive live financial aid presentation.
Each representative will answer questions you have about tuition & fees, classes, majors, prerequisites, extra-curricular opportunities, financial aid, scholarships & grants, study abroad, athletics, etc.
