REGISTRATION for the 2023-2024 School Year is NOW OPEN for ALL families. See registration flyer below. Please register early as this helps with the class planning process. June 1st is the registration deadline for the 23-24 school year.

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8- 12th. This is a wonderful time to say thank you to teachers & staff for all that they do for the students of Erickson Elementary School. Please see the flyer below for ways to celebrate the Erickson Staff!

MAP Spring Reading & Math Assessment Window: May 8-19. Classrooms will be taking the math and reading assessments during this window. Each test (math and reading) is approximately an hour long. Please encourage your child to try their best on the assessments and to take testing seriously. We are looking forward to seeing all the growth! You will receive the assessment results by the last day of school.

OPEN HOUSE is Thursday, May 25 from 5:30-7:00. This is a "stop in" event anytime during the 5:30-7:00 window. Although many stay the whole time. Families can stop by classrooms for activities, purchase baked goods from the PTO Bake Sale, visit the book fair in the gym, purchase spirit wear, sign up for Roselle or Bloomingdale library cards, and hang out with friends (with parent supervision) at the playground. Come in and celebrate your child's school year successes! See flyer below.

Lunch with A Loved One is on Tuesday, May 30th from 12:00-12:40 (weather permitting)

Families are invited to Erickson to have a picnic lunch with their child(ren) from 12:00-12:40 on school grounds. Bring picnic blankets, chairs, etc. and enjoy time outside with your family. All students will eat from 12:00-12:40 on this day. RSVP for Picnic Here. See flyer below.

Regarding: Teacher Appreciation Week: May 8th-12th, 2023

Dear Parents,

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8th-12th. This is a nationally recognized week to celebrate teachers and is a wonderful time to say thank you for all that they do for our children. This year, we will celebrate and thank all staff members of Erickson during Teacher Appreciation Week. Choose the days (or all five) to participate and show our Erickson staff how much they are appreciated!

• Monday, May 8 - Paraprofessionals: Celebrate the Paraprofessionals that help assist students and teachers at every level. We would all be lost without them!

• Tuesday, May 9 - Fine Arts Teachers: Celebrate our Fine Art staff that follow students throughout all their years at Erickson. These weekly “specials” (Gym, Music, Art, Library and 4th-5th Grade Technology) are attended by students every week - so let’s show these teachers just how special they are!

• Wednesday, May 10 - Homeroom Teachers: Celebrate your child’s teacher on this day. Let’s show them how much we appreciate all they have done to help our child learn & grow throughout the school year!

• Thursday, May 11 - Specialists: For those students who work with Specialists, this is the day to show appreciation to them. Social Worker, Therapist, Special Education, Acceleration, etc - these are a critical part of a students learning process that should not be forgotten!

• Friday, May 12 - Front Office & Custodians: The Front Office staff is the glue that keeps us all together and the Custodian staff keeps the school clean & safe so our children have a safe place to learn. Let’s show our appreciation to both of these integral groups at Erickson!

Some ways to show your appreciation: Have your child write a special thank you note, share a favorite memory or draw a picture. Or bring them their favorite snack or drink, a favorite treat (flower, lotion, etc), or shop at their favorite store, These are just a few ideas.

We are excited to announce that our new online fee payment system is now My School Bucks (MSB)

MSB is not live at the time of this notice, but invoicing for the 2023-2024 school year will take place sometime in May and payments are due in FULL by September 1, 2023. You will receive an email from MSB when the registration fee is applied to your student(s) account(s). If you think you would qualify for a fee waiver for 2023-2024 school year, complete this form and return it to the Business Office by September 1, 2023.

MSB is a user-friendly online payment system with a single sign on. You will be able to create an account, add your student(s) and see ALL of your students in that one account.

Westfield Families: Along with the registration fee, incoming 8th grade students will have their graduation fee applied to their account to be paid at the beginning of the school year. Sixth grade students will have their lock fee applied to their account to be paid at the beginning of the school year.

SPRING OPEN HOUSE (previously called Portfolio Night): Thursday, May 25 from 5:30-7:00

Lunch With A Loved One, School Picnic: May 30th from 12:00-12:40. Bring a picnic lunch and blanket for you and your child(ren) to eat OUTSIDE on school grounds

Field Day: June 2nd

LAST DAY of SCHOOL: June 8th (as long as we don't use snow days or cold weather days). If we use a cold day/snow day the last day is extended a day. So this date will be finalized after we get through the winter.

Current 5th Grade students and their parents/guardians are invited to visit Westfield Middle School on May 11th from 6:00pm - 7:30pm for 5th-to-6th Grade Transition Night. 5th Graders will begin the evening with Westfield Student Council members and will be provided a short presentation and a tour of the building. Parents will begin the evening in the Athletic Gym and will be provided a presentation by Westfield Administration and Staff highlighting the unique aspects of middle school. The presentations will begin at 6:00pm. Please enter through our Athletic Entrance, Door 32, located along the front parking lot. Following the presentations, parents will have the opportunity to visit with staff members, tour the building with their child, and visit our Book Fair. We hope to see you at Westfield on May 11th!

PTO EVENTS

• Our next PTO meeting is May 10, 2023 from 5:30-6:30 pm in the Erickson Library. This is open to all Erickson parents and we would love to see you there!

PTO FUNDRAISERS

• Our next dine out is at Raising Cane on May 25, 2023 from 4pm-10pm and 15% of all sales will be donated to Erickson PTO. Come out and support the school before or after Erickson’s Spring Open House at the school. See attached flyer for more info!

PTO UPDATES

• Calling all bakers! May 25th is the Spring Open House and we are looking for bakers to donate baked goods that we can use for the Erickson Bake Sale. We had such a great selection last year and we sold out quickly. Please email ericksonpto13@gmail.com if you are able to help us out with baked goods or have questions!

Please take the time to review the Erickson Family Handbook. Each class will meet with Mrs. Frattinger and myself to discuss school rules and procedures. Ask your student how to SOAR in the hallways, in the classroom, on the bus and during recess.

The first full day of school is Thursday August 25th, for students in first - fifth grade. Kindergarten & Preschool students start school on Monday, August 29th. Students may arrive between 8:25-8:40. Classes begin at 8:40.

School Hours:

Grades 1st-5th: 8:40-3:30

Kindergarten AM: 8:40-11:30

Kindergarten PM: 12:40-3:30

Preschool AM: 8:50-11:20

Preschool PM: 12:50-3:20

Lunch Hours:

1st, 2nd & 3rd Grade Lunch: 12:00-12:25

4th-5th Grade Lunch: 12:25-12:50

Dropping off lunches from restaurants (ie- McDonald's, Wendy's, Panera, etc.) as well as using food delivery services to drop off food (ie -GrubHub, Door Dash) is not allowed. Students should bring their lunch in the morning to school each day. Safety is our number one priority and we would like to limit visitors.

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures: Click here to learn about arrival and dismissal procedures for the 2022-2023 school year. Families should utilize the side parking lot for pick-up and drop-off. The front parking lot is designated for buses only. Morning arrival is between 8:25am-8:40am. Staff begin to supervise students at 8:25 am. Grades K and 4-5 will enter through the front doors. Grades 1-3 will enter through the side of the building. Students will begin to enter the school at 8:35 and go directly to their classrooms. School beings at 8:40.

If you are interested in ordering another Pillar Shirt, please fill out this PILLAR SHIRT ORDER FORM and send $10 in a marked envelope "PILLAR SHIRT" with your child. A new Pillar Shirt will be delivered to your child once the money is received. Please fill out one form per child.
