Countdown to Turkey Day!
Time to count our blessings as we enter the last week before Thanksgiving break. One way we can do that is to help someone else in need. We will continue to collect cans next week. The class with the most cans will earn a popcorn party. We currently have less than 50 cans collected for our room. Hopefully, we will have a big finish! We want to be a part of helping those in need! I’m counting my blessings every day that I come to school. I have the sweetest group of students! Thank you for sharing them with me!
Spelling Bee is here!
The classroom Spelling Bee will be Thursday , November 19th during class time. Each child will have a chance to participate. Words came home this week. If you need another copy of the words, please let me know and I’ll send another set home. If your child is the classroom winner, they will go on to the campus Spelling Bee. They will get a new set of words to review. The campus Spelling Bee will be December 16th at 9:00. Happy spelling!
In science, we used our rubber band cars to test the effects of friction. We tested our cars on the tile in the hallway and on the blacktop behind the school. Many cars got a terrific boost from the wind! Even so, the tile was a much better surface for going the distance!
In math, we started multiplication. Our focus this week was multiplying by tens and hundreds to look for patterns. We will start with the lattice on Monday. Look for ways to get your children to see patterns for multiplying. Anytime there are equal groups involved, ask them how to find the total. If you are buying 12 cans of corn, have them estimate the total.
Remember the Thanksgiving feast is Wednesday. Fourth grade will have lunch at 11:20. That’s about fifteen minutes earlier than normal.
Have a wonderful fall weekend!
