The mission of Sioux Center Christian School is to disciple God’s children by equipping them with a knowledge and understanding of Christ and His creation so that they can obediently serve God and others as they work and play.
Every Student TREASURED, Every Student TRAINED, Every Student TRANSFORMED
FROM DR. B.
Welcome to 2023!
So...did you make a resolution for this year?
If you did, you will likely not succeed! That sounds harsh, but studies show that 91% of people who make a resolution won't actually succeed in meeting it (https://www.inc.com/marcel-schwantes/studies-show-91-percent-of-us-wont-achieve-our-new-years-resolutions-how-to-be-9-percent-that-do.html).
But there is hope! Here are 4 tips to help you meet a resolution if you made one (read more at the link above if you're interested):
- Set specific and challenging goals
- Set goals that you want to pursue with relentless drive and passion
- Get a support system
- Focus on smaller goals (milestones) to reach your larger goals
Rather than setting a resolution this year, I am going to jump on the "one word" bandwagon. Have you heard of this? You pick one word that will be an overarching idea for your year. I'm choosing the word patience. I'll be trying to think often of Romans 12:12 ("Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer") and Galatians 6:9 ("Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."). Patience is not my typical default setting, so thank you for your help and encouragement as I try my best!
Whether you choose to make a resolution, try the "one word", or do something else, blessings to you as you continue raising your children to know, serve, and love God. We are so honored to partner with you in your efforts.
The best is yet to come!
With you,
jb
