Monday Memo
April 1, 2019
Great things!
We made it a full week of school last week with no snow days! Wow!
Our new intercom system has been installed and speakers are being checked over. Hopefully we will all have a working speaker/intercom system shortly! Woo hoo!
P.M. fire drills went well last Monday. Thanks for moving our students out quickly and quietly.
Challenge: "There is a cause of & solution to all challenging behaviors. Some are obvious and easy to solve. Others require patience, persistence and lots of detective work. As challenging as this is, there is nothing more rewarding than helping a student experience success!" -Dr. Bryan Pearlman, EdD .
Your challenge: Take the time to help your students experience success, figure out the cause and use it as a learning opportunity!

Nuts-n-Bolts:
* The announcements for the week are loaded into the shared file. Shandi's p.m. class is featured this week
*Art in the office for April: Natasha
*The sun is shining! Let's get the kids outside-even if the playground is wet-take a walk around the blacktop, take out a bucket of balls to play with, get out and enjoy the fresh air! We all need it!
*Bring your journals and mindset books with you to PD this week please.
*If you use the heaters in the library while your class is there, please remember to turn the heaters off and unplug them when you are ready to leave. These have been found left on over night, etc.
* April library book shelving duty: Shannon
Speech/Language Tip of the Week:
Focus on teaching specific vocabulary this week. Look at a book you will be reading to the group and pick out vocabulary that you think your kids may need assistance in learning the true meaning. Use visual cues and prompts when teaching these new concepts. Sometimes we assume kids understand the meaning of all that we read in books or can understand the meaning based on context in the story. Don’t assume, question kids to see what they understand.
