Our Character Strong Focus for February is KINDNESS!

This month we’re talking about the wonderful and sometimes oversimplified character trait of Kindness. We will celebrate and learn about kindness and what it takes to truly be kind. Students will participate in activities during morning meeting time, have class lessons with our counselors, and learn about ways to demonstrate kindness during Random Acts of Kindness Week.

Celebrating Black History Month

February is Black History Month, the annual celebration of the achievements of African Americans and their essential role in the history of our country. While important throughout the year, February provides our staff and students with a specific time to honor, celebrate, and learn more about the accomplishments and history of African Americans.

UES Celebrates RAK Week - February 13-17!

The UES will celebrate Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) week from Monday, February 13 through Friday, February 17. In addition to lessons and activities, we will celebrate each day with a special theme.

Monday - Hat Day! - Please wear a hat today. Kindness makes others feel warm & cared about. Do as many acts of kindness as you can today to start off the week!

Tuesday - Valentine’s Day! - Please wear your red, pink or Valentine’s Day gear. Be kind to your family today!

Wednesday - Favorite Color Day! - Please wear your favorite color today. Take time today to learn something new about someone else. Learning about & listening to others can be a great way to show kindness . . . and make a new friend! ;)

Thursday - School Colors Day! - Please wear our UES colors (black & yellow) or your UES gear! Be kind to your classmates, teachers & staff today!

Friday - Pajama Day! - Please wear your pajamas & donate $1. Be kind to yourself today. Say kind words to yourself & do something that will bring you joy. All donations will go towards the ‘Meals on Wheels’ program.

National School Counseling Week

February 6-10, 2023 is recognized as National School Counseling Week! Our school counselors serve a unique role in supporting students to help them achieve success here at the UES and beyond. A very special thank you to Mrs. Weick, Miss Doto, and Mrs. Potter for helping our students examine their abilities, strengths, interests, and talents and for working in partnership with families, teachers, and others to support our Undeniably Excellent Students.

The UES Welcomes Author Aisha Saeed on February 9!
