Goal-Setting is for Everyone!
Let’s learn to set (realistic) goals :)
By your School Counsellor, Caroline Brennan, RCC, CCC.
As we move into the last two weeks of September, let’s take a look at what goals we can set for the autumn term. We talk a lot about goal setting in school, and how to set meaningful goals. This week, let’s explore how to set (and achieve!!) goals, bit by bit, and where to even start with new goals! Often, we have goals that we would like to achieve, but perhaps we are not sure where to start. Let’s work together, and figure this out!
Have a daily routine in place.
You have seen this before, however, having an established routine already in place could increase your chances of adding new, smaller goals.
Look at what you are already doing right!
To start setting goals, first take a look at what you are already doing well! It can help you shift your mindset to one where you believe you CAN achieve your new goals.
Try, try, and try again!
In order to be successful at achieving a goal, you need to believe you can actually do it, even if you are not successful the first time you try. These are some helpful tips for the adults who support our kiddos :)
Break the big goal into smaller ones ;)
As you can see above, Rachel-lynette.com has some great resources to help get your child started on goal-setting :)

Some people have a growth mindset and others have a fixed mindset. Surround yourself with friends that can support you in your goals. If you can’t find any, become that person and inspire others... and most importantly, YOURSELF!!
Creating a vision board helps us really think about what we want our goals to look like. And it is a great visual reminder for the days you need to remember how far you have come. Make sure to check in with yourself about all of your successes. Every step towards a big goal, had many successful smaller steps!
