Parent Update
We are officially finished out first month of school. It was nice to see so many families at our Open House. Overall, it has been a good start to the year. The students have been working on learning the new routines of middle school, including changing classes, transitions, and of course learning their locker codes.
The KRMS schedule allows for more instructional time within our 5 core classrooms (ELA, Math, Science, ELA, and Social Studies). On Mondays, the students meet with each class in what was our traditional model for 45 minutes. However, for the rest of the week, when the core classes meet, they are in class for 75 minutes. This change has limited transitions, improved instructional time, and provides more time for the students to get deeper into their work. Although each schedule has its pros and cons, we feel this will not only support students in this current learning model, but it will also support them in their future transition to the high school level.
A reminder that teams send out emails to families quite frequently and if you are not receiving these, please reach out to your child's team leader so they can add you to their contact list. The emails include items such as homework, team activities, upcoming events, and other helpful information to be more aware of what is going on with your child here at school.
Many families still have not completed their InfoSnap registration. Please assist us in having all the proper information for your child by completing and submitting these forms. The InfoSnap email has been sent out multiple times. Please call the main office if you did not receive this email
For our student-athletes, we have opened up our Winter-Sports registration. We offer the following winter sports here at KRMS: Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, basketball, cheerleading, swimming, and wrestling. Information for registration is below, or you can follow the steps from this website: www.kingswoodathletics.org.
Lastly, our annual KRMS fundraiser starts on 10/3, and we need your help. Materials were sent home with students today. Our goal is to raise $10,000.00 to support 7th & 8th grade team activities this year.
Sincerely,
Kerry Hunt
