Reminders:
Inclement Weather Plan and Communication Methods. Now that we are in winter and the weather is colder, it’s a good time to revisit our plans to address inclement weather and communication methods. Centennial School District has a plan to monitor inclement weather and its potential impacts on school operations that may result in a school closure, a delayed start to the school day, or early dismissal. We notify our staff and families using multiple methods:
Automated messaging (voice, email, and text)
Centennial School District website: www.csd28j.org
Centennial School District Facebook @CentennialSD28j
District voicemail: 503-760-7990

Keeping Students and Staff Safe - Bond Dollars Fund Exterior Lighting. Centennial School District strives to create safe, secure, and aesthetically pleasing facilities for our students, staff, and visitors. Most recently, Centennial schools received updates to their exterior lighting across the buildings and parking areas to ensure that these areas are well-illuminated.
Centennial High School welcomes 36 new dual-purpose LED illuminated safety bollards as part of the the recent safety and security exterior lighting improvements components to the school.
The fixtures were funded as part of the voter-approved 2020 Bond below-the-line projects. The new bollards replaced the previous failing and broken exterior fixtures in front of the main entrance, auditorium, pool, and gymnasium.
The District mounted exterior lighting fixtures across the schools and offices to illuminate the walking paths and parking lots across the front and rear of buildings. As you know, reliable exterior lighting is essential to school safety for our facilities. When done correctly, exterior lighting provides students, staff, and guests peace of mind during the evening hours. Critical variables were considered with the selection and installation of the lighting, including square footage, ground coverage, and locations.

Be a Good Neighbor to our Centennial Community. We always want our Centennial Community to know that we respect our community and show what it means to be and Eagle with our positive actions.
- Please be respectful to all our CHS Neighbors and community around the school.
- Be mindful of the traffic congestion and the safety of everyone on Haig Drive, 174th, Marie and 181st, particularly during the busy pick-up and drop-off times.
- Do not blocking driveways or parking in marked No Parking Areas posted at dismissal and arrival.
ParentSquare will become Centennial's Official District Communication Jan. 2024. Centennial School District is excited to fully implement ParentSquare - our official centralized District communication platform. The District Remind messaging application will sunset Friday, Dec. 15, 2023 and we encourage all our families to register and connect with us via ParentSquare.
ParentSquare will serve as our District messaging platform, which offers an array of digital communication tools, including email, text, phone messaging, forms and much more. Almost all Centennial families have already registered to ParentSquare – placing us at a 96% contactable rate of our families.
Using this platform streamlines District messaging to a single source for our community. Ensuring reliable communication channels is important for our community, and we want our families to know they can count on us to provide them with the tools needed to stay connected with content that relates to them and is easy to use.
Check out the ParentSquare video tutorial below. We also encourage families to update their contact information in Synergy to ensure you have your name, phone number, address, emails and home language updated.
