The Lion's Share Newsletter
September 2021
From the Desk of Mr. Miller:
Grant Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you and your family well! I would like to sincerely thank you for attending our "Hello & Popsicles" night, along with our recent Open House! It was so great to be able to see you, say hi, shake hands, and even give out a few hugs! Needless to say, we have missed seeing you in our building! I hope that the beginning of the year has been a good start for you and your Lion(s).
Each month, I will be sending out The Lion's Share Newsletter! My hope is that it will provide you the best place to receive communication and learn about all the happenings taking place at Grant each month. Please be sure to keep your email address up to date with the office, connect with your student's teacher using ClassDojo, and "like" us on Facebook!
As we are just starting our year off, there is a lot of information in this newsletter! I appreciate you reading over everything, and please know, they won't typically be this long!
Your students have all been doing such a great job and are adjusting to life back in the classroom. Being back in the classroom is where we really want them to be. In order to do that, we need to ask for your help. Please keep students home who display any sickness or are not feeling well. We would also appreciate you calling the front office to let us know! As a friendly reminder, please do not send your student(s) to school if you or somebody in your household is awaiting a COVID test. We are working hard to ensure students can stay in school. If you have a positive case in your household, please communicate that information to our office for further guidance.
Lastly, as we begin the year, we are always looking to create strong relationships with all of you at home! We hope you will be involved in your student's education volunteering in the classroom! At this time, we can allow for visitors and volunteers. We would also love it if you could join our wonderful PTA! Our PTA meetings take place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:00-7:00. Our first PTA will actually take place on Tuesday, September 14th, which is the same night as our Skate City event...so stop on by and join us while your Lions are skating the night away! You can follow our PTA/SAC here: https://www.facebook.com/GrantElementaryptasac
I look forward to seeing you around the building and hope you have a wonderful year. As always, if you have any questions, please let me know!
Make it a great one and thank you,
Ryan Miller

Parking on Shadowglen Before & After School
- Only park in the blue handicap portion if you have a valid placard! We have many families that need and use this area. We understand that you may only be there for a few minutes, but ask that you do not park there at all without a valid placard.
- Please be mindful of our neighbors by not parking in their driveways or blocking their driveways. Each year, we have neighbors that are unable to get into or out of their home due to their driveway being blocked.
- Please don't let your student run across the street unattended! We have cars that drive quickly on this street and with so many cars and busses parked, many times those drivers don't see you students running across the road.
- Finally, please know that our yellow bus zone is for D11 busses and all daycare busses/vans. Please do not park in the yellow bus zone. Once all D11 busses and daycare busses/vans are gone, it is okay to park there. Please know that all of our busses will get priority parking in order to drop off and pick up students.
Attendance Information
Having your students at Grant on time is so incredibly important to both the student and teacher. It really helps to start the morning off smoothly for everyone. If your student will be absent, please be sure to call the attendance line at 719.328.5712.
