Advanced Placement Information
IMPORTANT AP INFO AND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
- Please encourage your students to apply for exams sooner rather than later. As a reminder, exams must be registered and PAID for by October 21st to avoid late penalties. We need time to approve waivers, so the earlier they can get this done, the less like they are to end up with late fees.
- Please encourage students to apply NOW if they are free and reduced lunch! This waiver approval process can take several days and trying to do this the week of the 21st is going to end badly for the student in terms of late fees. If a student applies for exams and states they are Free/Reduced status, they will need to either email the copy of the letter they received from the county or complete the Sharing Information form (this is the process that takes a while with the county). Please email these to Ansley.Sand@cherokeek12.net.
- Lastly, AP Scholarship Information went out to teachers and students today. These scholarships are based on the number of exams a student is taking as well as the quality/content of the essay they write on the application. Here is the timeline for applications for scholarships:
- Applications go out 9/27 (please post the attached application on your Canvas page, email out to parents, or whatever you normally do to make sure your students/parents see it. I will work on getting this in the morning announcements as well).
- Applications are due back to Ansley Sand by 10/21. No exception. If I do not have them by the 21 at 3:15pm, they will not be considered.
- The scholarship committee will have a decision made on who receives the scholarship by 10/28.
- All exams (first semester and yearlong courses) must be paid for by 10/21 to not have a late penalty.
- If students have already paid through Total Registration and receive a scholarship, they will be reimbursed for all, or a portion, of their payment.
