Energy For The Future

By Amelia Kahn

Solar, Geothermal and Wind Energies

Solar energy comes comes from the sun. We recover the solar energy through solar panels. It is considered renewable because a never ending resource for now. It's always availible (except when the sun goes down.) In the future this is a good energy source because it can't run out in our lifetime. It's not allowed.

Geothermal energy comes from the Earth. Just like solar energy, geothermal energy is renewable. It is considered because it is an unlimited resource for now. We recover geothermal energy through water. There are machines that dig deep into the ground and pull out water that is converted into steam, and from there into turbines. In the future I think that geothermal energy is bad. They dig holes in the ground and leave them there. If we continue this, the Earth will be covered in ugly holes before we know it.

Wind energy comes from well, the wind! This is also a renewable energy. This is considered a renewable because it is a never ending resource for now. We recover wind energy through wind turbines that are like giant windmills. The turbines spin because of the wind. Energy gets stored inside the back of the mill. Did you know that one wind turbine can power about 500 houses?!?! Although this energy sounds good, it also has its downsides. It is extremely expensive and not everyone can afford it. In the future I think we should use it, but combined with other energies to help save the Earth.

Which Is The Best?

Solar Energy

I think solar energy is the best choice of the three, because it may be more expensive, it is really good and I think it's the best. It uses the sun, which can't affect the Earth. The other two do some sort of destruction to the Earth. This one of the least expensive forms of energy. Some people have already started using solar panels, but some don't want to make the change because of the cost to put in solar panels, or the use another kind of energy. I think the most negative thing about solar panes and energy are that they are expensive and that they take a lot of time, money, and work to put in. Why wait? If we wait until all the renewable resources run out, than we will have no choice but to destroy the Earth even more, so what are you waiting for, bring the subject up with your family at dinner, spread the word!
