Energy For The Future
By Amelia Kahn
Solar, Geothermal and Wind Energies
Geothermal energy comes from the Earth. Just like solar energy, geothermal energy is renewable. It is considered because it is an unlimited resource for now. We recover geothermal energy through water. There are machines that dig deep into the ground and pull out water that is converted into steam, and from there into turbines. In the future I think that geothermal energy is bad. They dig holes in the ground and leave them there. If we continue this, the Earth will be covered in ugly holes before we know it.
Wind energy comes from well, the wind! This is also a renewable energy. This is considered a renewable because it is a never ending resource for now. We recover wind energy through wind turbines that are like giant windmills. The turbines spin because of the wind. Energy gets stored inside the back of the mill. Did you know that one wind turbine can power about 500 houses?!?! Although this energy sounds good, it also has its downsides. It is extremely expensive and not everyone can afford it. In the future I think we should use it, but combined with other energies to help save the Earth.
