News and Notes

Dear Parents,

I hope you had a wonderful three- day weekend!

As I mentioned last week, Catholic Schools week is January 29th to February 3rd. National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2023 is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service." We will kick it off with an open house/ Dinner and Bingo on January 28th. Information about Catholic schools' week and the Kickoff Celebration was sent last week. I am including it below.

The open house is for you to see what your child is learning and to visit their classroom and the school! We will also have an open gym with some fun activities. New parents for 23-24 will be invited to meet and mingle with you and your children! You must RSVP for the dinner by this Friday!! I have also included a google form to let us know that your child is interested in participating in the 5 o'clock Mass.

Don't forget that this Friday we have an 11:45 dismissal due to a faculty meeting.

Thank you and have a wonderful week!

Ms. Kazan

Service Learning!

A group of 7th graders took a class project to a whole new level this past month. The 7th graders read the book, A Long Walk to Water, which discusses the water crisis in South Sudan. They were stunned to learn that only 41% of the South Sudanese have access to clean drinking water. These students decided to do something about it and held a dress down day last week to raise money for The Water Project, a charity providing access to clean water in Africa. They created a presentation to me asking me permission to hold the dress down, which included facts about the water crisis and ways we can help. Thank you for your support of this dress down day as we raised over $600 to help provide the South Sudanese.
