what is a touch screen?
A touchscreen panel is a display screen that acts like an input device. You press on the screen to direct the device. To instruct the device you apply pressure to a specific location on the device.
Touchscreen monitors are based on three different technologies: resistive, capacitive and surface wave.
To interact with a device with a touchscreen panel, you press on a specific locations on the screen. The pressure-sensitive technology recognizes a tap on the screen, and translates it into a command for the device to perform a function.
The person who invented touch screens was a man called Dr Samuel Hurst. There are many types of touch screen devices such as apple devices (iPod's, ipad's, mac, iPhone's), touch screen computers and also there are a wide range of touch screen phones.
