The MS Dance was a success! We are extremely proud of how our students participated with enthusiasm and class last Friday at the Summer Vibes MS Dance. Grade 7&8 students from five other schools attended and between admission and snack sales, we raised close to $2000 for The Open Door Shelter! Many thanks to Ms. Corbie for organizing this event - a highlight of the Middle School social calendar! Thanks to Ms. Morris, Ms. Turrin, Mr. Lajoie, Ms. Torry, and M. Decelles for chaperoning. A big shout out to Thomas Backman ('22) and Mr. Hodgins who kept the music pumping all night!
June 10 - Special Last Day of MS Classes: Students will start the day as usual at 8:15am in their period 1 classrooms. We will hold a special assembly from 8:30-9:30 for all MS students and staff, followed by a TAG activity. Students can wear free dress to school that morning. Dismissal will be at 12:30pm.
Phys Ed Selection for Students entering Grades 7&8 in September 2022 will take place this month. Students can expect an email soon with an options selection form.
Arts Courses for 2022-23: We are working on a new digital arts course offering for next year in Middle School. Current Grade 7 students will be emailed soon and asked for their interest in this arts course for their Grade 8 year.
Online School Supply Service: Next year’s supply lists for students entering Grade 7&8 are posted online here. Beginning June 25, students may purchase school supplies online for next September through Service Scolaire Editions Vaudreuil Inc. Please note that if you choose to use this service, a percentage of the total sales will be donated to a local children’s charity.
English Summer Reading Selections for students entering Grade 7 and Grade 8 are posted online HERE. Purchase at your preferred retailer, including local Montreal bookstore Babar Books, who have stocked all SHS required books in their online store. Click here to order from Babar Books. Students/Parents can use SELWYN as the Promo Code for free shipping on orders placed between June 2 - 30, 2022.
There are no French Summer Reading Assignments for students entering Grade 7&8 in September 2022.

Message to current Grade 8 families: The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award program is the world’s leading youth achievement award that empowers your children to make a difference while exploring their potential, taking on new challenges, giving back to the community and achieving success! Ms. Segal presented the Duke of Edinburgh program in Grade 8 core classes. This award program is available to each student once he turns 14. We often talk about VERITAS throughout the students' time here at Selwyn House, and The Duke of Edinburgh Award touches on all aspects of our mission and values. Look at our Duke of Edinburgh webpage on the Selwyn House website for more information, as well as step-by-step videos on how to register and log your hours. You can register as early as June 1 and start working towards your Bronze award. Please reach out to Ms. Segal if you have any questions.
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Study Challenges! The challenges remain available to students and can help to prepare them for successful exams and assessments. The following links may also be helpful:

MS Closing Celebration: We are delighted to celebrate the end of the year in person with all Grade 7&8 students from 4-5pm on Thursday, June 16! Each student is invited to bring a maximum of 2 guests. After a 30 minute closing in Coristine Hall, we’ll enjoy refreshments under the tent in the west yard. School uniforms are not required; smart-casual attire is expected. No RSVP required; we expect all students to attend. Please inform Ms. Beech if your son (and guests) will not be able to join us for this event.
2022-23 Educational Services Contract: Each year, parents/guardians complete an Educational Services Contract which is legally required by the Quebec Ministry of Education. This contract confirms your son’s enrollment in the school, allows you to verify the information we have on file, and lets you choose your payment method for the 2022-2023 academic year. The online contract is accessible through OnCampus and must be completed by Friday, June 3, 2022. We ask that BOTH parents/guardians login separately to complete it.
The Emergency Contact Form and Medical Update forms for 2022-23 are also now available in OnCampus and only require one parent/guardian to review and submit. Please email Ms. Kelli Poulin (poulink@selwyn.ca) if you have any questions.
Grade 8 Laptop Return: All Grade 8 students must return their laptops and chargers on Wednesday, June 15. Technicians will collect the laptops and chargers from students in their exam rooms that day. Please see the attached letter from Mr. Trudeau, Director of Technology, for more information regarding laptop requirements for Senior School. It is expected that Grade 7 students will keep their laptops and chargers over the summer and use them again for their Grade 8 year; however, a Grade 7 student can return his laptop and charger on June 15 if he prefers that we store it over the summer or if repairs are required (you must email the tech office to inform them if this is the case). All loaner laptops and chargers must be returned to the tech office.
