Pennies for Patients will begin soon
Information sent to families
March 4th to March 8th we will be running 1 week of Pennies for patients. I will be sending home individual boxes for students to take home. They can count their change and bring them into their homerooms. In addition, with the online link above an online donation can be made. Any amount is helpful, and it teaches children to do good deeds for others. See below for more information.
*Thank you for your support of our Pennies for Patients Campaign last year, sponsored by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). We are running Pennies this year from March 4 - 8, 2019.
Pennies is a service-learning program that gives students the unique experience of working together to help raise awareness and funds in honor of thousands of children and adults fighting blood cancers.
Leukemia is one of the leading fatal cancers of children ages 1 – 20. The 5-year survival rate for children under the age of 20 with the most common form of leukemia (ALL) went from 3% in the 1960s to over 90% today.
Every day we are getting closer to finding cures for all blood cancers!
Join our Hero Squad! Our goal is to raise $1,200 and WE NEED YOR HELP! We are asking that everyone (students, faculty, parents, alumni, etc.) at Tiogue Elementary School (this spelling) join in this effort of raising awareness and giving funds to benefit the mission of LLS. The Internet Archive contains one of the biggest collections of books that are in the public domain. Before sending students to the Internet Archive to look for free books you should be aware that it does contain some works that you definitely wouldn't want elementary school students to read. Therefore, the best way for teachers to use the Internet Archive is to find what they want students to access then download it and place it into a Google Drive folder or OneNote folder for students to access without having to actually go to the Internet Archive. Watch this video to see how to download books from The Internet Archive.

Faculty and Staff surveys will be completed at either a Faculty Mtg. or Data Mtg. time in March.
I will share your survey access information next week.
Parents have been notified in our last 4 newsletters and through our Listserv. They received hard copies of the survey info. as well. I'll offer PTA mtg. time to complete surveys for parents again this year. Last year, we have 2 or 3 people complete surveys after the PTA in the library.
