Goodridge Elementary
Thank You
Our deepest gratitude for you and your patience and kindness as we navigate Virtual Learning together. Our hope is that in these past four days you have seen us teaching processes and procedures, such as how to use the mute button, chat feature, and how to ask questions.
We also hope you have seen your students getting to know their teachers and their classmates. You should see us spending more time learning each other over the next several weeks so that we can better learn from each other.
You might hear your students reading to teachers and answering questions so that we can get a better idea and understanding on how to best instruct your students.
We recognize that this is such a unique circumstance, and therefore, we are trying to make "school," or virtual instruction, as community-based and relationship-oriented as possible. We appreciate you, your help, and your supports at home. We also appreciate your feedback on how we can better support you and your learning environment.
For now, please close the lids and take the weekend you deserve!
Virtual Instruction Expectations
Remote learning could look a number of ways, depending on the grade-level and time of day.
Some ways might include:
Live time with the teacher where students interact with teacher and classmates
Live instruction with the teacher
Recorded instruction with the teacher
Live questioning and feedback with the teacher
Live small group instruction with the teacher
Live one-on-one instruction with the teacher
Independent student working time with teacher accessible
Independent student working time where teacher is not accessible
Please also reference Boone County’s guidance on Virtual Instruction. The recommended on-line direct instructional time for this age is 2 hours. Therefore, there will be times when students may complete work early, and it could appear that they have nothing to do.
We would like to offer some options for them. Your teacher will send a menu of items next week.
Some things might include:
Read library book
Complete Lexia, Dreambox, or ST Math minutes
Journal write
Teacher activities
If you need other ideas or have additional questions, please contact your child's teacher.

Virtual Instruction Parent Resources
This link was created by NKCES. It's a “Parent Resource” page for those of you seeking parent connection resources. There are many tabs at the top with many great resources.
Student Fees
School fees have been assigned to all students. They are $60.00 for the 2020-2021 school year. They will show as a General Fee and an Agenda Fee. The Agenda Fee for this year will serve as a Technology Fee so we can keep the tuition at an even amount for parents. These fees will insure that all students will be receiving all supplies for the classroom that are available for student use. During this time in the pandemic, it will also insure that we have programs available and assignments prepared for home use.
There are three ways to make payment:
- Online via the Parent Portal of Infinite Campus
- Check/Money Order made payable to Goodridge Elementary. Please reference student’s name/grade in the memo line.
- Cash payments are accepted, with check/money order being preferred. Thank you for all you do as our students begin this new school year.

Please do not write on or place stickers on your Chromebook.
Technical Troubleshooting
Unlocking Chromebooks:
The Chromebook needs to be shut down at least 3 times not by just closing the lid but by actually clicking or touching the words shut down which appear at the bottom left of the screen.
If the Chromebook remains locked after this, please contact your child’s teacher or call the office.
To connect to Wi-Fi:
Charge Chromebook
Open Chromebook
Connect to your own Wi-Fi network
