Who's to Blame?

Friar Laurence is to Blame!
Friar Laurence is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he was silent, did not communicate well, and gutless.
Friar Laurence makes three mistakes that lead up to their deaths. Friar Laurence first off gave Juliet poison to trick everyone to believe that she was dead. Laurence made a huge mistake that he could have avoided himself, if only he had thought out his plan in a better way. He trusted Juliet, an uncertain fourteen year old girl-- with a potion to make her look dead, just so she didn't have to marry Paris. Friar Laurence actually shows his irresponsibility by saying "If... thou hast the strength of will to slay thyself... take thou this vial... no warmth, no breath shat testify the livest" (Shakespeare 72,93,98). If Juliet is to drink the poison then her body will appear to be dead. Juliet was very gullible and believed that doing this would solve her problems.
Friar Laurence trusted John to send the letter to Romeo, and not even telling him that the letter was important. A matter as important as faking a death is something that should have been dealt with personally. Not given to someone to pass on. Now, if Laurence had given the letter personally to Romeo, the plan might have gone a lot more smoothly. Then, Friar Laurence runs away from Juliet when she needed him the most, and by leaving her there alone, she kills herself. In the tomb scene, Laurence attempts to help Juliet before running away, when he says "And bear this work of heaven with patience: But then a noise did scare me from the tomb; and she, too desperate, would not go with me, But, as it seems, did violence on herself" (260-263). Laurence got scared because he heard a noise in the tomb, so he asks Juliet to leave with him. Juliet of course insists insisted on staying. Juliet finds how Romeo killed himself with poison so she tries drinking the poison and it doesn't work because there is none left. When that doesn't work she then takes a knife into her heart.
