District-Wide Holiday - Jan. 21st
DECA Competition - Jan. 18
Lubbock-Cooper High School will be hosting a DECA competition on Friday, January 18th from 9:00-12:00pm. There will be approximately 120 students in attendance from across the region.
Students will compete in a variety of marketing-related events with role-plays and case study scenarios or written Business Plans. This is an extremely valuable opportunity for students to enhance their interviewing skills, concept knowledge, and confidence. DECA is an international organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
Good luck to our DECA Pirates and their coaches, Gayla Carlton and Brittany Wright.

Emily has also volunteered to be the sponsor for the Student Innovation Challenge at TASA Midwinter Conference in Austin in January. She will be with four to five 9th grade students who will use innovative skills to solve a given challenge.

Scholarship Opportunities for Seniors
One of the many objectives of the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation is to invest in the future of LCISD students - in part through awarding scholarships to deserving seniors seeking to further their education.
Encourage your LCISD senior to apply for the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Scholarship and/or Hannah Grace Venable Memorial Scholarship. The Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Scholarship is open to all Lubbock-Cooper seniors, and the Hannah Grace Venable Memorial Scholarship is open to Lubbock-Cooper seniors with an interest in pursuing a career in assisting individuals with special needs. The deadline to apply for each scholarship is Friday, February 22.
In addition to completing an application, seniors will need to upload a resume of accomplishments into the form, or email it to lcefapplications@gmail.com. Two letters of recommendation must also be emailed to lcefapplications@gmail.com by individuals advocating for the student. This is a great opportunity for hard-working Pirate students to get a head start on funding for college or trade/technical school! Students can fill out the applications online at the links below:
