Squanto is known for helping the Pilgrims in their first winter in America, yet he did much more after that as well. He helped them negotiate peace treaties and helped them form alliances with other tribes like the Wampanoag. He died trying to keep peace for the Pilgrims.
Squanto
Squanto was born on January 1, 1585 near Plymouth Massachusetts. He lived with his tribe for most of his life, they were called the Pawtuxet.
Sailing in Slavery
Its estimated that Squanto sailed across the Atlantic ocean six times. He was shipped to Spain, England and America many times. These travels were often forced.
Thanksgivin'
Squanto is the main reason the Pilgrims had Thanksgiving. He was the one who had taught them how to farm, hunt, and gather. In 1621 the Pilgrims celebrated after their first successful harvest.
