Got Hope?
"No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame"
Captivating
The young children sat rapt in attention as the story-teller wove her tale. Bursts of laughter, poignant sighs, anger, flashed across the faces of her young listeners. Nong May was at it again. May is a story-teller. Trapped in her wheel chair she takes people on adventures, using only her imagination. May’s voice and eyes captivate her listeners as she brings them along with her.
May is handicapped and in Thai society most people see her as a person who is worthless: A burden to her family and the people around her. May feels the sting of rejection and many days she just wants to stay at home, alone.
But these days, May comes to the Hope Center full of joy and laughter. She knows God’s love and wants to share His love with her friends. Her face sparkles with laughter as she tells the story of Jesus choosing her and healing her soul. May has friends, loads of friends and they are all attracted to the love and hope that her life radiates. May is captivated by God’s love and this love is captivating the hearts of her friends.
Unmerited Favour
It has been a journey leading up to where they are at today. A couple of months ago two sisters, Kao and Si were full of questions. They were asking me why I had decided to become a Christian. They asked me what a Christian was. They asked me how it had changed my life. Today they are still full of questions but today they are a part of the family of God.
Our journeys began to interact when we took a short term team from SVPGMBC to teach at a small school for a week in August. There the team invested in relationships with each of the girls. It was fun to see the way that they interacted together and every child felt loved. At the end of the week we invited anyone who wanted to come to the Hope Center for the Friday night youth activities. Several people began to come. A. Nat didn’t miss the opportunity. She quickly announced that anyone who wanted to, could come with the team to church that Sunday. Kao, Si, and their sister Nay were among the girls that went.
Sandy is Back!
Everyone has been waiting, and we are excited to have our team all back together again :)
Bethel's First Christian Wedding!
Hope Fulfilled
But with God, even the impossible is possible.
As we celebrated the Christian weddings of two couples at Bethel Church, we could not help but recognize the miracle that it was. How many people had prayed that there would be men, and that there would be entire families in the church? How many hours were spent in intercession for the very couples now standing up to make a covenant with each other before God? Only in Christ is this possible. If God can take people who were witch doctors, HIV* and drug addicted and set them free, making them into leaders of the church and make beauty out of the mess of their lives, then He can do miracles in our lives and He can use us too.
The Hope Center is in need of financial partners and prayer supporters. Please support this valuable work.
