Weekly Article: "Ask Me About..."
Each week the grade level teams will publish two to three statements for caregivers to use as conversation starters with their child(ren). Although the Scoop is a great place to see and discuss end-of-learning products, these "ask me about" conversation starters will help promote discussions about current learning. For additional questions to ask your child about school, please visit "Understood's" article:

Ms. King's Class News:
This week we read Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We made puppets to retell the story and we dressed up to dramatize the story. We even tried porridge for our snack!
We do Graphics Practice (handwriting practice) and use private speech to help us remember how to form the letters.
When we do Second Step we are learning how to be learners. We have to remember; "Eyes are watching, ears are listening, voice is quiet, body still and focus attention".
We are learning about subitizing numbers. We can hold up fingers or dot cards and know how many there are without even counting them.
Thank you PTO for our Monomony t-shirts. We love them!!!!
PreK News:
Our next unit is signs of fall. Please go on a hunt with your children in your yard. Look for changing leaves, fallen acorns, and fallen pine cones. Collect them, and send them to school. We will be starting our nature center
Thursday was our shark jar reward party. Students dissect moon rocks (flour, water, paint, and cotton), made planets, made helmets, and pretended we were in outer space. Also, we made telescopes, space ships, and a space village. We watched videos of space and sang a planet song. Children were allowed to be cozy and come in pajamas.

Kindness Club interviews Gail Andrews, Head Start Center Supervisor
- Describe a typical work week for a Head Start Teacher? As the Center Supervisor, it is my responsibility to be in charge and see that the teachers and the students are doing the correct things.
- How do you communicate your classroom expectations to your students? As the Center Supervisor, I establish and communicate classroom expectations to the teachers who then teach the students the expectations.
- What strategies do you use to encourage children to work in groups? Much like adults, students have jobs also. I encourage children to work together to get their job done.
- Do you speak languages other than English? Not really, although I understand and can speak a little Spanish.
- How do you make sure all families’ cultures are represented in the classroom? I like to have families come in and prepare a meal for them and then play a game with the caretakers and their child.
- What skills should a child have before entering kindergarten? Children should know their letters and numbers, how to get along with others and how to regulate their emotions before entering kindergarten.

PMC Kids Lower Cape Ride-September 29th
I'm coordinating the Kids Pan Mass Challenge bike ride for the Lower Cape this year. The ride is getting ready for its 12th annual ride on Sunday, September 29th. This event allows children of all ages, and their families, to come together for a good cause. Each year the Lower Cape, Kids Ride raises about $10,000 for the Jimmy Fund.
Please let me know If you have any questions regarding the event (or if your free on September 29 and would like to potentially stand along the bike path....perhaps the 1mile marker....and cheer the students on -especially your CES students.
Attached below is the flyer. There's also more details on the website: kids.pmc.org (Lower Cape) and our Facebook page PMC Kids Lower Cape Ride. It's a great cause and fun event!
Thanks!
