Questioning
Naci Atchley recently turned in her reflection and chose to reflect on a lesson where she taught students about the levels of questioning. I love this option because when students understand how much their own questions can empower them as learners, it opens up their minds to deeper thinking and they see how they can own their own learning. Adding the intentionality piece of teaching them the levels of thinking/questioning really is key to them integrating it into their practice. I took Naci’s advice and asked some of my students to come up with the questions they’d like adults to answer when they come to evaluate the children’s books the students are writing. It was great to see their minds churn as they thought about how to word each question to get the most helpful and meaningful information.Teaching students to become the questioners makes learning fun for us and them!
