How to write a bill in steps

By: Michael Muirhead

Step One

The bill gets made by a senator or representative that wants to move an idea heard by other members of congress.

Step 2

Present the bill to the committee it falls under and allow them to decide if they want to pass or kill the bill

Step 3

The bills passed by the committees will be voted on in the house of congress it falls under such as the Senate or House of Representatives

Step 4

The houses then switched passed bills and bring them back to the committee level.

Step 5

Once revisions have been made and the necessary bills killed the passed bills move up to the opposite house that then votes on the bills.

Step 6

The passed bills are then voted on and changed if necessary by both houses. The passed bills get sent to the president who signs it and it goes into effect.
