A Word from your Principal
Dear Affton High School Family,
Welcome to the second semester! We had a great first day here at AHS. The halls are freshly painted, rooms are bright and clean and the students were happy to be back. Not all of them admitted it, but there were smiles all around today.
This semester we will be working through a new protocol for student tardiness to class. It is our goal to maximize every educational minute and we were wasting too many on the front end because of students not getting to class on time. Starting tomorrow if your student is late to class one of the hall monitors will have them sign on our tardy log and then your student will have to call or text you to let you know. I am hopeful that we won’t have too many of you get multiple calls during the day but the only way for us to be a team is for us to openly communicate. Students at Affton have proven to me time and again that they rise to the level of my expectations of them and I have faith we won’t have too long that we have to focus on this issue in this way. If you have any questions about tardiness at AHS please feel free to contact me.
This Friday we will have the Freshmen Tailgate party that had to be rescheduled from earlier in the fall. All freshmen are invited to attend and will be welcomed (for free) at our basketball games against Bayless. Girl’s Varsity will play at 5:30 and boys will play at 7:00. Please come join us and support the kids in this rivalry game! Tailgate party will be in the commons at 4:30.
One last note, tomorrow is not an early release day. We have a full day of school tomorrow. Have a great week.
