Jo's Sport Talk
During a term overwhelmed with cancelled sports events, it was with feelings of gratitude that we were able to complete our Senior Athletics Championships a couple of weeks ago. The day was ka rawe! It was excellent! The sun was shining, making it even more enjoyable, as our tamariki performed the athletics skills they had been practicing during sport rotations since term 3. This year, their eagerness to 'have a go' was especially evident in the 800m race, an event usually avoided, where we had runners jostling for position at the start line. We also had time to squeeze in the traditional House Relay, with Takitimu winning bragging rights for 2021.
Ka pai to our overall champions on the day:
Year 5 Girls: 1st Sophie Haycock, 2nd Piper Gosling and 3rd Molly Hyett
Year 5 Boys: 1st Mauritz Muller, 2nd Lachie Hooper and 3rd= Tyson Rolls and William Haycock
Year 6 Girls: 1st Meleane Hala, 2nd Tia Poroa and 3rd= Chiara Masey and Ruby Trueman
Year 6 Boys: 1st Max Taylor, 2nd Ken Nguyen and 3rd= Louis Evans-O'Loan and Kaelan Walters

TPS Sports Events in T4
The Junior School Athletics Day was held today. We look forward to hearing all about it! The Middle School Athletics is on Tuesday 30th November on the school field. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no spectators.
Last week, WBOP Cricket came to TPS to run a cricket tournament with some of our senior students as the regional tournaments have been cancelled. The kids played a mini 'round robin' style competition amongst themselves, and had so much fun, with the music playing in the background, as they smashed the ball all over the school, bowled hat-tricks and triple maidens and showed some intense commitment scoring runs. Pai te mahi to Joseph, George, Ocean, Meleane and Ruby for winning prizes at the end of the day.
In a couple of weeks, the BOP Rugby Union is visiting the school to run Rippa Rugby skills sessions, and the Orienteering team will participate on a 'map reading style' course on the school grounds.
All loaned sport uniforms and sports equipment borrowed from TPS must now be returned to the school office or sports office in the Tech building.
Finally, I am located in the school Tech block during the hours below, otherwise email is a reliable source of contact.
My office hours:
· Monday 11:00am - 3:00pm
