iREADY DIAGNOSTIC
iReady diagnostic will be coming up at McKinley on January 27 and January 28. All students will take the reading and math. Students will be setting their goals for the diagnostic in the upcoming weeks.
PLASTIC LID AND CAP DONATIONS
We need your help with the collection of plastic lids and caps. If you could start collecting them, we would appreciate it. When you have a bag full of caps, please send them to school with your student. You can also drop them off at McKinley. Just call when you arrive at school, and we will come out to get them.

MLK Day Art Contest Kids 4 Human Rights
Kindergarten through sixth grade- draw/paint a picture of a human rights defender who they admire. Examples: Malala Yousafzai, John Lewis, Rosa Parks, Malcom X, Harriet Tubman, Nelson Mandela
7th grade through 12th grade- draw/paint/mixed media/any medium – Create a picture depicting a human right which they feel strongly about. Examples: anti-war, clean water/air, affordable health care, no discrimination based on race, LGBTQ rights
Submitted pictures will be posted on the Green Iowa AmeriCorps – Energy & Community Facebook page and the week of Jan. 18 people will be able to share, like, comment on the artwork submitted. The winners will be announced at 5 PM Jan. 24
We will keep the contest separate between the two age groups.

How to Turn in Receipts:
Student can give receipts to their advisory teacher.
You can drop off receipts to McKinley, M-F, from 7:30 to 4:00. Just call when you arrive, and someone will come and meet you.
Send your receipts electronically. To sign up for electronic receipts, go to https://www.hy-vee.com/perks/ (Opens in a new window). Once you log in, it will bring you to your customer profile. Towards the bottom of the first column, it will ask you if you want to receive a digital receipt. Click yes. E-mail your electronic Hy-Vee receipt to Mckhyvee@gmail.com (Opens in a new window).
The program for this year runs April 1, 2020 through March 31, 2021.
Ask friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers to collect receipts for McKinley. It's not too late to start collecting and turning in receipts.
I am assuming the program will continue past March 31, so keep collecting receipts.
