Shooting in schools

Active shooter protocol

Shooter protocol

Was started after the shooting at Columbine High School. The standard protocol is geared towards school violence by and aggrieved student. Implement lock down procedures, minimize target profile, and wait for police to neutralize the situation. Teachers and students should hide, lock the doors, and turn off the lights. Students and teachers should not scream and be crazy because that hides the shooter and provides the target-rich environment. If a teacher calls 911 they should give as much detail about the shooter while being as quiet as possible.
