Mason Moose Minutes October 8
Teamwork it is! One Mason, One Family, One Team!
Message from the Principal
Happy Friday! It has been a busy week for everyone at Mason, and we continue to be blessed with the teamwork and collaboration taking place to address the needs of all students, staff, parents and community members! Teamwork it is!
I truly want to take the time to thank our dear PTO, who came out with parent volunteers to set up the Book Fair at Mason, and provide opportunity for all to view everything it had to offer, and support literacy efforts amongst our students! To all the parents who came out, thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts, we truly appreciate each of you!
Next week is an exciting week with Parent Teacher Conferences scheduled for the following days and times. Kindly make note which days Zoom conferences are only offered, a combination of Zoom and in-person, or in-person only.
Wednesday, Oct. 13 - evening conferences 5-8 p.m. - Zoom only
Thursday, Oct. 14 - afternoon conferences 1-4 p.m. - Zoom OR in person options are available
Thursday, Oct. 14 - evening conferences 5-8 p.m. - in person only
Parents, kindly refer to your emails for an email that was sent out earlier this week on Monday, October 4 with your login information to PTC Wizard, which is where all conferences are being scheduled. You will have until Monday, October 11 at 11:59 p.m. to schedule for conferences.
To access the PTC Wizard scheduling system, you must go to the following link:
http://gpschools.ptcwizard.com/parent
Your PTC Wizard username is: ( /Parent portal/ mistar username)
Your PTC Wizard password is: ( Parent portal/ mistar password)
Kindly prioritize your meeting times with the homeroom teacher, and know that specials' teachers are available to meet as well. In the comments section, we kindly ask that you please note whether you are requesting a Zoom conference or in-person conference if applicable for the day chosen. Due to the limitation in PTCWizard, we needed to place the Zoom conference link in the spot labeled room numbers. Please know that this does not mean Zoom is the only option, but rather if this is the option you have chosen, it is there for use, and if you have chosen the in-person option, please proceed to the classroom assigned. If you need support at the school building on your conference day we can direct you to the correct room. Additionally, if you need help signing up for conferences, please feel free to call the main office or myself directly.
A few very important reminders for our dear parents...
* Please DO NOT PARK on Charlevoix Rd as this is a drop off area during morning arrival and dismissal times. We want to be proactive about this so that parents are not ticketed for parking there, and students are safe to be dropped off.
* Additionally, during morning arrival, let us try to park in the parking spots which tend to be available if you intend to walk your child to the blacktop, and please DO NOT PARK in the drop off circle in the morning so that it indeed is a drop off circle for all students to be dropped off safely.
Thank you sincerely for your ongoing support and partnership in addressing our students' needs. We continue to move forward as One Mason, One Family, One Team! If you need anything in the meantime, please know you can contact me via email at Hassana@gpschools.org or by phone at (313) 432-4404. As always....Teamwork it is! Together we learn, we lead, and we lift!

Building Visitors and Volunteers
ATTENTION ALL PARENTS who are interested in volunteering during lunch and/or recess, please call the main office and ask to speak to Ms. Lyon. We would like to reflect a schedule of parent volunteers who are available to support on specific days, along with when we have indoor recess days. We appreciate all of your support!
If you are interested in being a volunteer at Mason, please know that we kindly need an ICHAT form to be completed with the main office staff at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled day. Thank you for your support and understanding!
Color/Fun Run
Thank you to all the families who returned the permission slip back! For the few students who did not return the permission slip, families know you can stop by the main office to sign off on one by Monday 10:00 a.m. in order for your student to participate in the run! In the event there is rain on the scheduled Color/Fun Run day, please know we will make a decision to postpone and reschedule the run for the spring.
A kind reminder students without parent approved permission slips to participate in the color aspect of the run, will be provided with a lanyard by the PTO to wear during the Color/Fun Run to differentiate between students who have parent permission to participate in the Color Run, or those to participate in the Fun Run alone. Students WITHOUT a lanyard have permission to participate in the Color Run and students WITH a lanyard will ONLY participate in the Fun Run without the color spray. Please refer to the below flyer as well for more information.
Parents if you would like to join during the event, it will be held outside on the field adjacent to the school parking lot. If you are interested in volunteering on the Color/Fun Run day, please reach out to the PTO. Lastly, kindly know that the PTO intends to provide each student with an individual bag of goldfish and a mini water bottle after their run.
