Davenport's Weekly Update
Week of January 16th, 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
"Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier." Mother Teresa
With a blink of an eye the end of January is upon us. Time is something that we will never get back so remember to make every day, minute, hour, and second count. As we move into the month of February, there will be many things to celebrate, Black History, Valentine's Day, and President's Day. Most importantly, celebrate yourself and the accomplishments you've made thus far. Continue to strive to be your best self in the year of 2022.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Latiya White
Parents please be reminded of the following:
- Health Affirmations should be signed and sent into the homeroom teacher, if you haven't done so already.
- During the week of Parent Teacher conferences for the older grades, January 30th to February 3rd, we may experience bus delays. Thank you for your anticipated patience.
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Learning About Martin Luther King Jr.
Ms. Whoy’s kindergarten students learned about Martin Luther King Jr. this week. They did an egg activity to provide a visual for students to see everyone can be different on the outside but are the same on the inside!
Gearing Up For First Grade
Mrs. Lukas and Mrs. Helms' class are building their writing skills. Their kindergarten students practice writing and expressing their opinions daily with the "Question of the Day." Together they are learning to write a "5 Star Sentence" as they grow as writers and get ready for first grade!
Farewell Ms. Amy - We'll Miss You!
Mrs. Gettings' MD students took part in a cooking activity in their speech group with Ms. Amy, while also bidding her a sweet farewell.
