New absence procedures
For the 2023-24 school year, all parents and guardians must report student absences, late arrivals or early departures through the Parent Portal. Please do not contact the Health Office, School Office, or classroom teacher via phone or email.
For a step-by-step guide on how to report an absence, click here. Please ensure to include as much detail as possible when entering the reason for the absence.
If information is not in Parent Portal by 10:00 a.m. and a student is absent, the school will attempt to contact a parent or guardian.
If the absence is medically involved, please report the absence first in the Parent Portal. Following this, you are welcome to contact the school Health Office to communicate with the nurse about the condition.
Questions? Please contact the front desk.
Curriculum Night
We will offer an in-person Curriculum Night experience at Maple School on Wednesday, August 30, in which families will have the opportunity to experience an expedited version of their student’s schedule. During this event you will hear from each of your student's teachers and learn about them and their class. The night's events include:
- 8th-Grade parent information meeting, 6:30 - 6:55pm. (Cafetorium)
- 6th-Grade and new Band (Rm 163) and Orchestra (Rm 164) meetings, 6:30 - 6:55 pm.
- Curriculum Night presentation, 7:00 - 8:15 pm.
All 6th grade and new Orchestra and Band parents are encouraged to attend the curriculum night to learn about the instrumental program at Maple. Orchestra will be in Room 164 and the Band will be in Room163. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Yoo at ryoo@district30.org or Mr. Pittman at rpittman@district30.org.
Schedules can be picked up at your student's Advisory classroom from 6:55-7:00 pm. After 7:00 pm, the schedules will be placed outside of your student's Advisory classroom. If you are attending the 8th-Grade parent information meeting, your schedule can be collected at 6:25 pm in the cafetorium.
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, August 30!
Pickup & drop-off reminder
Thank you all so much for your patience and kindness as we implement our traffic pattern protocols, both before and after school! We have had great success with these practices, and we will continue to improve our efficiency and effectiveness as we progress through these first few weeks.
As a friendly reminder, the east Activity Entrance and north Main Entrance are both available in the morning to be utilized at drop off. Feel free to use whichever entrance is more convenient for you. In the afternoon, students are only to be picked up at our north Main Entrance to avoid students walking in front of traffic to enter cars on the east or south sides of the building.
Also, please do not park, drop off, or pick up your students at Glenbrook North or La Salceda's parking lots. To ensure our students' safety, we'd like all students being picked up to meet their ride near Maple's main entrance on the north side of the building.
Thanks for your cooperation!
Student Services meetings
Parent/guardian meetings return to in-person
In the 2023-24 school year, the Student Services Department will return to in-person meetings. All meetings related to special education (Domain Reviews, Eligibility Determination, and IEPs) and 504 Plans will be in person at your school. If a parent requires a remote option, we can arrange meetings over Zoom. Thank you, and we look forward to returning to face-to-face collaboration in person with our families!
Health exam requirements
6th-graders and students new to Maple are required to provide the school with a health exam, which was completed within one year prior to the first day of school. Students new to Illinois will need to hand in a completed eye exam. Sixth graders must also provide the school with a dental exam form or waiver. All forms are available on the Maple website.
If your child will be participating in Maple athletics, it is required that your student have a health exam that was completed within one year prior to the last game of the season, on file in the health office.
Before any medication can be dispensed, the school must receive written instructions and a signed permission form from the student’s physician and parent. All medications must be properly labeled and kept in the Health Office. Parental permission must also be obtained for non-prescription medication.
Please contact the Health Office at 847-400-8908 if you have questions.
MAP testing
Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) testing is August 28-31
You child will be taking District 30's online adaptive assessment, Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Augs. 28-31. This assessment will help us better understand your child's academic progress and tailor their learning experience.
Students take two assessments: reading and mathematics. These assessment results will continue to be used by teachers (1) to assist them in differentiating lessons in reading/language arts and mathematics; as well as (2) to measure student academic growth. Students' fall assessment reports will be made available soon after testing.
Fall CBM benchmarking
All 6th grade students, except for students enrolled in the ELA (English Language Arts) Navigate class, will be administered CBM (Curriculum Based Measures) this fall. Testing will take place on September 6. Students will be tested during ELA blocks. Each student will orally read two grade level passages for one minute.
