Athletics

Athlete of the Month

This month’s Athlete of the Month is……. CHARLEY MARTIN!!! His high school athletic career started with the soccer team, which he was apart of for three years. He then became a first-time Varsity football player, while maintaining a 4.2 GPA. He is the executive chair in our school's SALC class. He is a prime example of a focused student-athlete. At the game against Forest Park, he booted a 33 -yard field goal in the first overtime. Charley then kicked and secured an extra point, causing a win for the Vikings during double overtime. What a goal it was! Continue making us proud here in the Viking Village Charley!

Sport of the Month

This month’s Sport of the Month is……. TRACK!!! Right now the team is in pre season. They condition hard on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Although conditioning with the team doesn't guarantee you a position, everyone shows up and gives their all at every practice. The workouts are physically and mentally demanding. There is a deficit of seniors on the team party due to cross country still being in season. This allows for the coaches to work with the underclassmen and try to shape them to achieve great things now and in their later years

SALT

This month SALT has been working on an abundance of projects that involve the school. For example, we have been doing ELL presentations in which students from the leadership classes inform the English Language Learners about the different types of sports that we offer in WSHS; It is important for everyone to be included. SALT has also been conducting Future Focus Presentations in Freshman classes to inspire and encourage them to get more active in school clubs and activities.

Winter Sports

Winter Sports Tryouts started on Monday, November 11th. Please visit the athletic website for details. https://woodbridgehs.rschoolteams.com

Clubs

Unity Club

The Unity Club was busy last month filling teachers' boxes with treats and notes to brighten their day! The Unity Club meets on Thursdays in room 2115 for spiritual study and to prepare service projects for the school and community.

The google classroom code is: xkos2di

Key Club and EDDAS

Key Club and EDDAS were the clubs of the month for September and October respectively! These two clubs, as well as all of Woodbridge’s clubs and organizations, work hard and enjoy what they do. Key Club dedicated their time to decorate socks, along with snacks for the HIlda Barg Homeless Shelter. EDDAS dedicated a lot of their time to editing and perfecting their writing, as well as organizing their coffee house events, where artists perform their works of art to the community! Both clubs are exemplary examples of dedication and commitment. They help to enhance the diversity here in Woodbridge, where everyone can find a place or club that they’re comfortable in!
