The Election - Taking Action

Hopefully you are noticed your learner taking great interest in political news. The kids are doing a great job analyzing political motivations for leadership, using the debates to help them better understand the importance of evidence to support an argument. Monday (October 15th) Nick Jr. will host a kid-friendly news report on the election. This begins at 8:00 and if you are available, might be a cool learning experience for your child. I have an "election folder" on Edmodo that we are using to house the conversations, questions, and thinking.

We will be hosting the school-wide election process in a few weeks. We've been using the following sites to gather information, along with some articles we have in class. Fostering these conversations at home will greatly contribute to the dialogue we are having at school. I appreciate your support in this learning and wonderful American experience :)

How do Communities Around the World Help Make their Environment a Better Place?

We continue to meet with our first grade reading buddies! This has been a GREAT experience; watching the first grade friends light up when our class comes in to share and teach their knowledge about communities and technology truly lights me up! It's great to see them in a different role; the teacher. So many of them thrive in this venue, I do hope they are sharing with you their experiences at home!
