## Math 7 Information

Whew! Math 7 has gotten off to an amazing start! We have started in our new 7th grade level books and are well into our study of ratios, rates, and proportions. We've learned the difference between ratios, rates, and unit rates. We've also learned how to write two equivalent ratios as a proportion and use proportions to solve problems. That’s a lot for the first week of school!

Activities at home to reinforce this learning might be scaling up or scaling down recipes to serve more or less people; using the car’s gas mileage to calculate how far the car can go on one tank of gas; comparing family members’ heights and arm spans.

Our first quiz is Tuesday, Sept. 1. We will be reviewing on Monday. Your child is welcome to come before school on Tuesday at 8 o’clock to C112 to go over the review one more time.

## Math Honors 7 Information

The school year has started off fun and exciting in Math Honors 7. Your child will have their first quiz on Wednesday, September 2. They will receive their review for homework today, Monday, August 31 and it is due in class Tuesday, September 1 to check and answer questions.

Your kids are working hard. They are so much fun to be around. Please allow them to "teach you" and study with you the concepts they have been learning in order to help them prepare for their quiz. The "humping it" and counting with scientific notation and dancing commas is always fun. This really is a truly remarkable group of kids...you should be proud.

For the quiz, the students can also come to tutoring any day this week from 8:00-8:30 in the morning(except Tuesday) and after school from 3:30-4:00 in C113 for help!

We are so proud of the kids and all their hard work!

Whoa! The homework load last week was a little extensive according to the kids and also Ms. Burnett. Please expect homework to not ever extend beyond an hour after school.

Besides that, our kids are doing great. Their knowledge, passion, and drive is so much fun to be around. I have felt so blessed to have them in class. Their first quiz will be this Thursday, September 3, 2015.
