What is Huntington's Disease?
Huntington's Disease is a hereditary disease marked by degeneration of the brain cells and causing chorea and progressive dementia.
Causes & Complications
Huntington's Disease is caused by an inherited defect in s single gene.
A persons functional abilities worsen over time and the disease could cause depression and could also lead to suicidal thoughts.
How to test for it and/or treat the defect? life outlook?
A diagnosis of Huntington's Disease is based primarily on your answers to questions, a general physical exam, a review of you family medical history, and neurological and physical examinations.
A treatment can not alter the course of Huntington's Disease, but medications can lesson some symptoms of movement and physical disorders.
Prevention.
There is no prevention for Huntington's Disease, there is a big chance that if one of your parents have it you might too.
The life outlook of having Huntington's Disease is life long and when having it you will live about 15-20 years.
