Dresden Update January 27, 2023
Information for the Dresden Community
Information for Dresden Elementary
Greetings Dresden Families
On the evening of February 2nd our second and third graders will be performing a vocal music concert here in our gymnasium. The second grade concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the 3rd grade concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Both concerts will last approximately 20 minutes. The students will also be performing their shows at an upcoming assembly for the entire school. Good luck second and third graders and a big thank you to Mrs. Burris.
On January 30th, February 2nd and February 10th the Macomb County Health Department will be here for our annual vision screening. The screening will be done with all students in grades 1st, 3rd and 5th. The screening will occur during school hours.
I strongly encourage all of our parents to talk with their children about the importance of school and being prepared to do their best. When a child refuses to participate in their learning by not doing their assignments or by being disrespectful in class they are hurting their future success. We need to all work together to prevent this from happening. We expect all students to be actively involved in their education and we expect all students to maintain proper behavior while at school. Again, failure to do so will impede your child's future success.
If you have a question or concern, I need you to call me. Please do not email if you have an emergent concern that needs to be addressed. Calling and talking together we can solve any problem.
With Much Respect,
Principal Brad Suggs

Outside Recess? Dress warm!
We have been lucky so far but it is going to get cold very soon. Our policy for going outside for recess is if it is not rainy, too windy or colder than 10 degrees Fahrenheit, we are going outside. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately. If there is a medical reason for your child not to go outside then you will need to provide the front office with a note from your doctor to keep them inside.

Breakfast and Lunch at no cost to Dresden Students
We are pleased to inform you that Dresden Elementary will be participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) as part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for the School Year 2022-2023.
The GREAT NEWS is that ALL students enrolled at our school can receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at NO CHARGE to your household each day.
In place of the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application we still need your household to fill out and sign the Household Information Report. This report is critical in determining the amount of money that our school receives from a variety of State and Federal supplemental programs like Title I A, At-risk (31a), Title II A, E-Rate, etc.
These supplemental programs have the potential to offer supports and services for our students including, but not limited to:
· Instructional supports (staff, supplies & materials, etc.)
· Non-instructional services (counseling, social work, health services, etc.)
· Professional Learning for staff
· Parent and Community engagement supplies and activities
· Technology
We are asking that you please complete and submit it as soon as possible to ensure that additional funding for our school is available to meet the needs of our students. All information on the report submitted is confidential. Without your assistance in completing and returning the attached report, our school cannot maximize the use of available State and Federal funds. This form is available online at https://utica.familyportal.cloud .
If we can be of any further assistance, please contact us at foodservice@uticak12.org .
Sincerely,
