Dress Code

It feels like the warmer weather is finally on the horizon!!! I would like to ask all parents/guardians to help our students follow the Horace Mann dress code. With your help we can make sure that our students are able to have the most productive day possible. If you need a refresher on our dress code please see below.

Thank you for all of your support in this matter

DRESS AND GROOMING CODE

  • Neatness, cleanliness and appropriate dress are vital to the individual student and to those with whom he/she shares a classroom.
  • Student dress must be appropriate and must not distract or offend students, staff or others within the school environment.
  • Clothing must not cause a health or safety problem. Clothing must be clean.

The following are not acceptable.

1. Pants revealing midriff, hips or undergarments including boxers.

2. Low Cut Tops revealing cleavage.

3. Clothing with obscene or sexually suggestive (example Hooters shirts) signs or sayings (example of obscene may be certain Marilyn Manson t-shirts.)

4. Clothing promoting drugs, alcoholic beverages, controlled substances or tobacco.

5. Hats/head coverings worn indoors. (Must be in your locker) Hoods must be worn off the head.

6. Tank tops with straps less than one inch wide.

7. Chains not considered jewelry.

9. In general, clothing that is too revealing, tight, and extremely oversized.

10. Backpacks must remain in the student’s locker. Students are not allowed to carry them to and from classes.

12. Students wearing shorts-the length of shorts must be past your fingertips, when placed at your sides.

Students not complying will be offered the following options:

1. Correct the situation with additional clothing.

2. Contact parents or guardians to obtain appropriate clothing or go home to change.

Juniors job shadow

Are you a junior or do you have a junior in your household? If so, have you done a job shadow yet?

This is the perfect opportunity to spend a day in the field you are interested in post high school. You will get to experience the field you are interested in, as well as, ask the professional in that field any questions you might have before making that major decision for you future pathway.

For those of you that have not done a job shadow or are not signed up to do one, please see Mrs. Flood in the library to start the process.
