Principal's Message
Hello Wildcats,
I hope everyone had an enjoyable 3 day weekend and is ready to come back and hit the ground running. I feel like I say this all the time, but we really are in crunchtime now, we have about 7 weeks of school left and some of that is testing, review and finals. Please, Please, Please check your student grades and follow up with teachers if you are not sure what you can do to help your student be successful. Thank you to all of our students who have already tested in science and our Juniors who took the ACT. It was very cool to hear students talking about how they knew answers because they were remembering them from their classes. Most of them seemed to be feeling pretty good.
This week I happened upon Aesop's fable about a thirsty crow, I think it shared some pretty good insight. I am going to shorten it from the version I read...
A thirsty crow was on its last legs and because of a drought it had not been able to find any water. Finally, when he just couldn't go on, he landed in a tree on a farm. When he looked down he saw a pitcher. He dropped to the ground and looked in the pitcher and saw that it was about half full. The crow tried to drink from the pitcher but his beak is not long enough to reach. He tried to turn it over, but did not have the strength. As he realizes that he is not going to get a drink, and is about to give up, he notices a bunch of pebbles around the base. He picked one up and dropped it in the pitcher and the level rose. He dropped another and another and another, soon he was drinking from the pitcher.
I found this to be really cool story because I felt like the crow could be any one of our students, the crow tried several different things, felt hopeless many times, yet never gave up and in the end small gestures helped him meet his need. I want to ask to encourage your kids and don't always look for the outcome, but to notice and praise the small gains.
Have a great week
