Bio
Frederick Douglass was a slave. He was born around 1818. Douglass chose to celebrate February 4. When he was born he was born into slavery. Sadly his mom died when he was ten-years old. Another interesting thing about Douglass was he escaped from slavery. The exact date or Douglass did escape is unknown. Once he escaped he headed up North on the Underground Railroad. As he went he became a Civil Rights Activist. He spoke to people about the hardships of slavery. He also fought for the Rights of African Americans and Women. Also he happened to be a abolitionist. Frederick Douglass died on February 20 just ten days after being married to his wife. He died of a massive heart attack or stroke. It is unknown because they did not keep good records in his time; also they kept almost no records for African Americans.
