Glimmer lantern, glimmer....

little stars a shimmer....

Lantern Walk

Wednesday, Nov. 20th, 5:15-6:30pm

Upper Duck Pond, Lithia Park

We meet at the upper duck pond, dressed warmly with lanterns in hand; then sing the songs together just once and walk together through the park singing the songs over and over.
It works best if we stay close together in order that we may sing as a group. When we return to the start point we just go off, remaining in the sweetness of the evening.
In order to maintain a sense of reverence for the evening, please save loud voices and adult conversations for another occasion.
I have paintings which you could use for a lantern or make your own version.

Words for the songs

Glimmer, lantern, glimmer, little stars a-shimmer,
Over meadow, moor and dale, flitter flutter elfin veil.
Peewitt peewitt, tick-a-tick-a-tick, roucou roucou.

Glimmer, lantern, glimmer, little stars a-shimmer,
Over rock and stock and stone,
Wander skipping little gnome,
Peewitt, peewitt, tick-a-tick-a-tick, roucou roucou.

I go with my bright little lantern, my lantern is going with me.
In heaven the stars are shining, on earth shines my lantern for me.
My light shines bright, all through the night, la bimel, la bammel, la bum.
My light grows dim, I must go in, la bimel, la bammel, la bum.

Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are!
Are you a gateway in the sky?
Are you a little Angel's eye?
Shine your starry light to earth;
Bring a thousand stars to birth.
Stars in apple, seed pod, pear,
Stars on berries everywhere!
So you guard me near and far; Twinkle, twinkle, little star!
