Creatine for Endurance Athletes
Jenny Dix
What is creatine?
Creatine is a natural substance, that when taken as a supplement, allows the formation of ATP, or energy, in muscle cells. ATP allows the muscle contractions to work.
How creatine works
With the ATP that the creatine helps produce, the muscle contractions happen faster, allowing the muscles to become bulkier.

Effects on endurance
Creatine is thought to increase the amount of water retention in the muscle, causing the muscles to become more bulky. With bulkier muscles, the endurance athletes would then have more weight to carry, causing them to become slower, or tired faster.
