Estimadas familias de Woodcrest,
The Celebration of Learning last Friday was so much fun! It was wonderful to see the students’ projects and to see and hear the bilingualism developing. It was definitely a proud moment for all of us at Woodcrest!
As we look ahead to this summer and next school year, we have a couple of exciting opportunities for our students and families.
First, we are very excited to invite Amity interns to our program once again next year. Interns join us from Spanish speaking countries and come here to increase their teaching experience and become part of our learning community for the year. We have work to do to prepare for their arrival in August. One of the biggest aspects of their experience is their host families. We will need host families for our interns starting in late August. Some details to consider if you are interested in hosting an intern:
Hosting is usually for half the school year, to give the interns different experiences with different families throughout their stay here.
You must have a spare bedroom for the intern; they cannot share a room. A shared bathroom is fine.
The host family provides three meals a day to the intern.
Interns are usually recent college graduates or about to complete their teacher preparation program in their home country.
We currently have three interns to place for next year, two females and one male. All are from Spain.
At school, the interns will act as language ambassadors and apprentices to the teachers with whom they work.
Please reach out directly to me if you are interested in hosting an intern.
Second, this summer, SLP Community Education will offer two weeks of Spanish Summer Camp. Please check these out and sign up if you are interested in having your child participate. They are filling up fast! Please see below for information and a link to sign up.
As always, thank you for your partnership in all that we do!

Principal

Appreciation for the appreciation
Spring Lake Park Schools staff appreciated all the love last week during staff appreciation week. There were sweets to start the day. Sidewalk chalk tributes. Thank you cards. Coffee. Lunch. Snacks. Smiles and hugs and more.
It's become a Spring Lake Park Schools tradition to honor all staff during the May National Teacher Appreciate Week. The week comes at a critical moment in the year when all staff are working hard to support students in ending the year strong.
Check out a few highlights and photos from the week of appreciation.

Listos para competir!

This event is the first time where students from all elementary schools join together and start to create relationships with one another. Our students had so much fun and our parents had lots of fun cheering them on.
Summer Reading Initiative!
The Woodcrest Spanish Immersion PTO is sponsoring a Summer Reading Initiative for our students here at Woodcrest Spanish Immersion. The goal of this initiative is to promote equity across Woodcrest by allowing every student in the school to "purchase" books at a Book Fair.
