Unity Point School
Empowering Today's Learners As Tomorrow's Leaders
Summer School Recap
Summer School 2022 was provided through ESSER Funding to address achievement gaps and social emotional learning needs created by the pandemic. Unity Point's Summer School Program included nearly 90 students. The morning focus was Reading, Math, and Social Emotional growth. Students participated in daily morning meetings to build strong and healthy relationships with adults and their peers. Individualized and small group instruction was provided to all students directly correlating to their identified areas for growth. The afternoon focused on enrichment activities with various opportunities for students to attend high interest camps. A big thank you to all of our parents that entrusted us with your children throughout the month of June! Lastly, a big shout out to our staff that made Summer School 2022 so special for all of our students!

What's the deal with the sun? ๐
Why Does The Sun Burn Us
The Sun sends a few different kinds of energy to Earth. There is infrared radiation, which is heat. There is visible light, which is what our eyes can see. There is also ultraviolet light. We canโt see ultraviolet with our eyes, but it can burn our skin.

BREAKFAST/LUNCH PROGRAM
Section 205 of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 requires schools to increase their paid lunch prices to eventually โcatch upโ with the federal reimbursement rate for free lunches. We began to increase our paid lunch prices with the 2015-2016 school year and would suggest continuing with the two-year cycle of price increases to reach the required minimum student rate of $2.70. Therefore, we suggest the following price increases for paid lunches for the 2022-2023 school year:
Changes for the 2022-2023 School Year include:
- Breakfast/Lunch will no longer be free to all students per federal guidelines.
- Student Price Increase: Breakfast $1.50 to $1.75 Lunch $2.50 to $2.75
- Free/Reduced Application is available in the main office. We encourage all families to complete the application process.
