Staying Connected While Apart

Making Sense of it All - Commissioner Kenneth G. Hodder

June 5, 2020 Note From the Pastors:

Aloha Salvation Army Gresham Family,

We pray the words from our Territorial Commander, Commissioner Kenneth Hodder encouraged you. This has been a week filled with highs and lows nationally and locally. Let's continue to pray to God for peace and justice over the things that are weighing our hearts down. Then let's praise and celebrate all the good that is still happening all around us.

"He has shown you, oh man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you

But to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8"

Please remember that we have started Life Groups. We hope that you'll take part. Also, please check weekly your Remind app for announcements and reminders.

Youth Activities Around the Corner

Although Camp Kurati and our Summer Day are not happening this year. Here are some events to look forward to:

1). On June 23 - we will be having a one day, youth event from 9 am - 1 pm, snack and lunch included. Register your youth asap with Captain Shoshannah as slots are limited.

2). Stay tuned for more details on an online music camp from July 20 - 24, hosted by our Divisional Music Director, John Opina, and his team.

Sharing in "The Blessing"

From John Opina, our Divisional Music Director:

You may have seen the song “The Blessing” floating around YouTube or Facebook, both by various churches/cities/countries as they show a unified belief in God. How awesome would it be for us, as a Division, to participate in this way. Would you be willing to join in this project?

You don’t have be a singer or musician to participate! If you want to dance then dance! If you want to make a painting during the song, then paint! Perhaps some ASL…do it! You can even just speak the words as they fit into the song. It would be great to get Gresham represented, families present, KIDS!, even different languages together as we sing this song of prayer and blessing to one another.

If you haven’t heard the song before, here’s the original version:

Here’s an example from the UK, which includes The Salvation Army!

What will you need?

Headphones to listen to the music

Video camera/Phone camera to record yourself singing, playing, dancing, etc.

Drop it in DropBox with your name and Gresham Corps/Church
