Piracy is illegally taking someone else's work without permission.
How Do I Know the Site I Use Is Legal?
When downloading things on to your computer through websites, make sure the site has advertisements or you have to buy the item. If it doesn't make you pay or doesn't have advertisements, it most likely has pirated material on it. By paying, you are buying to the rights of the music, but you can't give it to a friend or resell it because that becomes copyright infringement.
What Kind of Trouble Can I Get Into?
If you pirate a movie, you can be put into jail for up to 5 years or pay a fine up to $250,00.
